Young Journalists

Energy is a critical ingredient for development. In many countries, particularly in rural areas, continues to be a deficiency in the provision of energy services. The delivery of energy services is often linked to poor governance or accountability. Continuous reporting by journalists can, however, help to raise awareness about these issues, thereby enhancing the ability of stakeholders to improve energy services and provisions

To strengthen the capacity of Journalists throughout Africa and the EU, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) Secretariat invited a group of 9 Young Journalists to document and contribute to the 2nd Stakeholder Forum of the AEEP, which was held in Milan, Italy from 16–17 May 2016.

The Young Journalists were selected to work together under the guidance of the communications team throughout the AEEP Stakeholder Forum. Through their participation, selected Young Journalists had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Africa-EU cooperation in the energy sector and the challenges various African countries continue to face in delivering energy services to their population.

While at the conference, the Young Journalists successfully produced Press Releases, Photos, Video clips and interviews and made use of Social and New Media channels including Twitter. Read and listen to the Outcomes provided by the Young Journalists.

For their extensive contribution, continual motivation and constant support we would like to thank:
